Good Morning

Hello Everyone,

I have been having trouble with the internet lately so this may be my last post for a while.

I have had an excellent trip with lots of music and new friends. It has been a completely worthwhile experience.

I was able to purchase 3 Kpanlogo drums, 2 Djembes, and 2 xylophones while I was here. Now as long as I can get them all back to Utah we will be able to play traditional African music on real African instruments!

Best to all,

Patrick

Hi, Pat...not sure when you're coming home, but have a safe trip. I thoroughly enjoyed the pictures...a nice compliment to your great commentaries. I was away all weekend at a Professional Quilters Conference...and guess what we had a conference presentation on: Ghanian Flag Applique!!!! GO FIGURE!!!

Your comment about music being a power to bring cultures together struck a chord...I'm finding the same thing with quilting. As I try to chat in Japanese to the lovely women in my quilting bee who are desperately trying to learn all they can about the "American" art of quilting...which actually started centuries ago in Japan. While we laugh uproariously over the doings of the British Royal Family!!!

Please tell your friends in Ghana THANK YOU from your family who are grateful for the hospitality and care they have shown you.

We are so looking forward to seeing you soon. I can't wait to see your new instruments and hear you play them. I looked at your teacher's website and saw what your xylophone will probably look like. Wow!

Hopefully we have seen the last of the snow for the year here so that you have a warm welcome back. However, we probably shouldn't hold our breath.....

Take care, and have a safe trip home.

Hey Dr. Roulet!

Can't wait till you get back. I just caught up on your blog, Ghana sounds interesting. Everything sounds really cheap too. I hope your drums and xylophone get home safe. I can't wait to hear them. You know, seeing their music building, it makes me appreciate ours more. =) Have a safe trip home!
Hallie
P.S. The pics are awesome. Ghana looks pretty dry.
